Neighborhoods Partnership Network

NPN History

In the months following Hurricane Katrina, Neighborhoods Partnership Network emerged in the form of a meeting between neighborhood groups. Out of those meetings, a non-partisan environment in which neighborhoods could collaborate evolved. It became evident in those early days that such a space was necessary to maximize the potential of rebuilding New Orleans.

Since the summer of 2006, that spirit of transparency and collaboration between neighborhoods has shaped NPN’s role in the changing landscape of New Orleans. We now host bi-monthly forums, workshops, and trainings for neighborhood activists and leaders; we publish a monthly neighborhood magazine aptly titled, “The Trumpet,” for its role as an amplifier of neighborhood voices, and launched an outreach program, “neighborhood liaisons” designed to ensure our mission to provide an inclusive and collaborative city-wide framework that empowers New Orleans neighborhoods groups in community development and citizen engagement is realized.
