SURVIVORS VILLAGE

3800 BLOCK OF ST. BERNARD AVE.

NEW ORLEANS, LA. 70122

REVISED ACTION PLAN

In assessing the strategy and time limitations of the survivor's village I am proposing this revised action plan for next few months.

APRIL

1. We should take the next three Saturdays in April to work on restoring the physical symbols of the Survivors Village to the 3800 block of St. Bernard ave., including the Neutral grounds.

2. These weeks should also be used to make the New Day center usable and able to house volunteers who can work in shifts in order to provide a 24 hour presence at the new Resurrection City.

3. We should plan and implement some sort of actions against the Jazz fest as well as organize and educate people as to what we are doing and why. Emphasis should be put on public housing residents in general and St. Bernard residents in specific.

4. We should also network with organizations who are building the May Day event in New Orleans, anti-war groups and other natural allies to expand our support base.

5. We should also start our campaigns directed at getting support for HR 1227. directed at Mary Landrieu, the city council and the mayor.

MAY

The month of May would begin the direct action campaign against the mayor.

  1. The initial protest action at his home will be on Saturday May 5.

  2. This will be followed up by the constant action campaign that has been suggested by MAY DAY NOLA.

  3. The themes should be HANDS OFF RESURRECTION CITY, HANDS OFF PUBLIC HOUSING, HANDS OFF ST. BERNARD, and BRING THE PEOPLE HOME.

  4. We should also have a strong presence at the MAY DAY event.

  1. Every day in May there should be some action directed towards the Mayor and/or his staff i.e. that fool Blakely.

,JUNE

The month of June will focus on the rebuilding and defending of Resurrection city and organizing people around this effort.

It should be noted that this will be a 24 hour a day 7 days a week process.

JULY

I think we may want to consider starting our tent city in Duncan Plaza(in front of city hall in the last week of June and ending it on the 4th of July with a big march back up St. Charles St. to expose the contradictions of wealth in the city. We also might consider going down that ultra rich private street and forcing them to arrest us on the 4th of July Gust a thought for discussion).
