Gary Tyler
On October 7, 1974 a riot broke out at Destrehan (LA) High School; blacks and whites clashed over the issue of school integration. An innocent bystander, 13 year-old Timothy Weber, was killed in the midst of the chaos; 16 year-old Gary Tyler was arrested and framed for murder.
Sentenced to death by an all-white jury in 1975, Gary Tyler became the youngest person on death row in the United States. Tyler remains incarcerated at Louisiana State Penitentiary under penalty of an unjust life sentence.
