| Treme Community Improvement Association advocated for tenants' rights and dealt with housing issues and the needs of the Treme community and its residents for over 20 years. TCIA worked to alleviate scenes like those pictured – scenes which were all too common in Treme as well as New Orleans in general even before Katrina. TCIA was a strong advocate of community participation and input into all facets of community life.
