The Welfare Rights Organization sponsors the And Still I Rise readiness counseling program to assist welfare recipients in making the transition from welfare to work. Counseling and classes were offered in higher education preparation, personal and self-esteem counseling, self-reliance, attitude adjustment, job/career skills and African American history and culture. The program served hundreds of people, and many participants continued their training at local colleges and universities.
